What are some of the Benefits Associated with the PIRP Program?

The most obvious benefit is a better understanding of traffic legislation and safe driving techniques. Successful completion of the course also offers several insurance related benefits:

· Point reduction – If you currently have points tallied on your license the class may be able to remove up to 4 points from your driving record pending successful completion of the class.

The DMV database will automatically determine your eligibility for any point deduction.

· Insurance premium reduction – successful completion of the class yields a minimum of a 10% reduction of insurance rates assuming the attendee was the principle driver listed on the insurance policy. The changes in premium are in reflection to base PLPD and collision coverage, with the specific amount varying among different individuals.

· A better understanding of road mechanics - Students who successfully complete the course will have a better understanding of the legalities associated with driving in New York.
